Where do you live? Arvada, CO
How many years have you been running? 14ish
What are you training for? Colorado Marathon May 2018 + a few halfs along the way
What are your goals? Qualify and run Boston by the time I turn 40. Run all the marathon majors as well (2 down)
Why do you run? Fitness & sanity. I enjoy pushing myself, setting goals and working towards them. I want my daughter to see that hard work pays off in all aspects of life. I'm
What do you like best about working with Run Your Personal Best? Since working with Cory I've gotten 2 PRs. One in a half and one in a full. The full was a 15min PR (3:42:47) and that's huge. He pushes me but he also listens when I needed to dial it back. He's great about moving my scheduled runs around to fit my needs and he's great at giving feedback. I'm always asking questions about pace and what he thinks I'm capable of and he's fast to respond in a way that makes me want to push harder.
What advice would you give to other runners? Having a coach is a life changer. If you have big goals, get one. No more spending time researching training plans and laying them out on a calendar. No more having to think about it. If you're working towards a goal or even if you're just busy with work/family I'd highly recommend hiring a coach.
Also, learn to listen to your body when it's upset. I've tried to run through various minor injuries and the end result is never good. It's amazing what a few days rest can do.
What’s your favorite (or type) workout? Long runs.
What’s your favorite race you‘ve ever run? Twin Cities Marathon
Why? It's the first marathon I ran appropriately trained. I've never been so prepared (thanks to Cory) The course is beautiful. Crowd support is amazing and I got a huge PR. :)
What gets you through tough runs or days you don’t want to run? Knowing my next run will be totally different
